I've added it to my Kindle!

Feedyourshelf.com

Here's a new bookshelf managing website!
It's still in beta mode if you want to take a look.

Feed Your Shelf Logo

I just went a few minutes ago. I don't like it. :(
It's very pretty but it's pretty hard to navigate. I wanted to add the current book I'm reading, The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance, but it couldn't find it. So, I added another book and it worked.

This site is quite different than Shelfari.com. They don't put the book face out, but rather a blank spine. It has a cool rating system. I can't seem to figure out how to put a review up. I guess that's a feature to come after the beta.

Take a look. What do you think? I think I'll come back later when they've finalized.

Oprah Loves Her Kindle!

Did you watch The Oprah Show on Friday?
I recorded it to watch. Why? Because I knew she was going to reveal that she loves her Kindle.
Oprah stated "It's absolutely my new favorite favorite thing in the world."

She was so excited to talk about her Kindle. She had Jeff Bezos, the  founder, president, CEO and chairman of the board of Amazon.com and the creator of the Kindle, on the show to talk about the Kindle.

And of course, everyone in the audience and a few that were tuned in via Skype received a Kindle from Oprah with books already downloaded.

Oprah show viewers are given a $50 discount off of a Kindle purchase and a 10% discount on the purchase of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

So, instead of $359.00 you can buy it for $309.00, but only for 7 days after the show.

Will you buy one?

Demon's Hunger (Compact of Sorcerors, Book 2) by Eve Silver

I received this book directly from the publisher as an ARC to be reivewed on here. Thank you to the publisher Forever.

Demon's Hunger
  • Mass Market Paperback: 368 pages
  • Publisher: Forever (November 25, 2008)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0446618934
I didn't read the first book of this series. I don't believe there was too much back story that I missed in the first book.

This story centers around forensic anthropologist Dr. Vivan Cairn. She's on a sabbatical at the moment, which is excellent considering what's about to happen to her life.

She starts having these episodes of losing large amounts of time with no explanation of where or what she was doing. One morning, after coming to realizing she just lost 12 hours of the night, her door bell rings.

Dain Hawkins is standing on her porch, along with two other men at the car. He asks her to look at a bone that he has brought along. She takes him to her basement where she does her investigating, and at the moment, she's been investigating little red pouches filled with bones, hair, skin, and dirt.

Vivian is also "suffering" from bouts of massive waves of lust. She gets one while Dain is in her basement. She asks him to fetch her a glass of water. While he's gone a Demon appears in her basement. Vivian thinks she's halluciating but Dain comes flying down the stairs to save her. All the while her house is being torched by hybrids.

Dain helps her upstairs and outside to the SUV where he locks her in with wards....because he's a sorcerer!

He too was bombarded with lust while being near Viv. When discussing what to do with her with his backup he gets all feral and demands that he take her home with him.

All the while there are strange murders going on in town. Men with ther bellys opened wide and pieces of them missing.

Viv and Dain have a close call of lust on the balcony.  He stops because of a feeling of a strong demon nearby and runs off to see whats going on. All the while Viv is left behind on edge thinking, again, that no one stays, they always leave her.

AND a lot more happens! I seem to be dragging this summary out so much! Sorry!

The story is extremely well written. There's a lot going on but the author does very well with keeping the reader informed and never confused. If anything we know what's going on before Vivian and Dain do. The passion involved in the story is heartwarming. Dain is such a sweety and Vivian is a strong women.

I hope to get my hands on the first book. I asked the publisher to send me a copy so I'll wait and see if they send it before ordering it on my Kindle.

You can pre-order this on Amazon.com for $6.99.

10/10!

The Summoning (Darkest Powers, Book 1) by Kelley Armstrong

Chloe Sanders sees ghosts. She has a major break down in school the very first day she gets her first period. She runs through the halls screaming. That seals her fate of being admitted to a home for teens with mental illnesses.

She is sent to Lyle House. There she meets her room mates. They are a funky bunch of kids. She makes friends with Simon and his weirdly intimidating brother Derek. She makes very good friends with Rae. They all work together to determine that Lyle House is a conspiracy theory because they all have some sort of "power", as in X-Men like powers.

That's about all I should explain because the rest you'll want to find out yourself. The book is well written and the characters are likable. However, this book doesn't have an ending either!!! Geesh.

The Awakening is planned to be released May 2009. I'm not 100% sure if I'll pick up the sequel. It was a little to YA for me.

P.S. This was one of the books I put off reading because it wasn't available for the Kindle. It was released July 1 but not for the Kindle until September 9th.

The Summoning

Dark Side of the Moon (A Dark-Hunter Novel, Book 10) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I've playing catch up! I read this the beginning of October.

This was an amazing book!

Susan is a reporter. She works for a paranormal magazine. She doesn't like it but it pays the bills. Her good friend Angie, that's a vet, asks her to stop in at the animal shelter to talk to her husband who's a cop. They use a cat that's in the shelter as cover. Susan is highly allergic. She ends up taking the cat home to complete the cover story. When she gets the cat home he morphs into a large, naked man on her living room floor. She immediately thinks it's a hoax setup by her boss.

Ravyn is anything but a hoax. He's a Dark Hunter. He used to be a were-hunter but no longer. They are immediately attacked by Striker's men. They run away from the men. They retreat to a safe house but it's also attacked soon. They are forced to retreat to the were-hunter sanctuary, which is run by Ravyn's family that has disowned him. But they can't turn them away; it's agaisnt the law to turn away those in need. Susan cares for Ravyn in a room in the basement. He was hit with a trank and is acting all weird.

Once he recovers they work together to figure out what exactly the daimons are planning, which is to take over Seattle completely by killing the Dark Hunters off one by one.

Susan and Ravyn start to fall for each other. It really is a lovely romance that sprouts between them.

A great read!

Dark Side of the Moon

Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

I just finished reading the three available books of this series. I'm going to summarize what the books are a bit and then explain my feelings on this series, which is quite different than what I normally think about series.

Darkfever (Fever, Book 1)
EXCERPT
DarkfeverThe beginning of this story begins with MacKayla Lane lounging by the pool, soaking up some rays while listening to her iPod. She dropped her cell phone in the pool earlier in the week which leads to the house phone ringing from Ireland to inform her that her sister, Alina, was found murdered. Their parents were away on a cruise so Mac was left to identify her body once it arrived in Georgia where the Lane's live.

Distraut with grief, seeking answers MacKayla decides to go to Ireland and figure out what the police can't seem to do. What happened to Alina?

Mac's first night there she rents a room, goes to a pub for dinner and sees a fae. She doesn't realize what it was and nearly gave herself away by staring at it when an old lady starts knocking her in her head telling her to stop staring and go somewhere else and die.

Mac does some investigating the next day at Alina's campus, gets lost in Dublin, and strays into a bookstore, the best bookstore she's ever been in, to call a cab. Before going in she swears she's seen the shadows move. The bookstore is called Barrons Books and Baubles. The owner is a dark, sexy man named Jericho Barrons.

Through the rest of the book Mac discovers that she is a sidhe-seer; she can see and sense the fae and fae objects. Barrons takes her under his care, lets her move into the bookstore, trains her to use her senses while using her as an OOP (Object of Power). The steal the Spear from a mobster. She meets a Seelie death-by-sex Fae Prince named V'lane, who wants Mac to work with him to find the BOOK! The book is the object of the entire book. Everyone wants it. It's real name is Sinsar Dubh (she-suh-DOO).

Bloodfever (Fever, Book 2) EXCERPT
BloodfeverThe story continues right where it left off on the first book. There was no wrap up, no conclusion. Lets just say I immediately bought the third book when I bought the second book knowing there wouldn't be a conclusion with this book either.

Mac and Barrons are still working together. They are not too friendly to each other. Barrons is NOT a man. He's a something that Mac can't figure out but he keeps her safe so she'll deal with it.

Mac was investigating the Dark area near the bookstore and found a house. She found some of her sisters stuff in the house. She felt a pulling towards a warehouse behind the house. Inside she found a portal to the unseelie world being opened by The Lord Master, aka Alina's boyfriend. She's discovered there by Malluce the vampire. Barron's falls in and saves her. She ends up stabbing Mallue with the spear. (This might have happened in the first book.) Malluce is expected dead but there's no proof. Mac starts seeing a grimreaper like ghost thing following her around. One night it attacks her and it's Malluce. He kidnaps her, brutally beats her inches from death. Barrons finally comes to her rescue nearly too late. She askes him to feed her the half eaten Rhino-Boy off the slab. It has healing powers. Within 10 minutes she's fully healed and nearly as strong as Barrons. They pursue after Malluce. She wants to fight him. Barrons says ok but ends up jumping in to behead Malluce because Mac was enjoying herself too much. The second book ends in the same fashion: no ending.

Faefever (Fever, Book 3)  EXCERPT
FaefeverThe third book is all about Mac trying to figure out who to ally with. Her choices are Barrons, V'lane, Rowena, and few other minute people that can help her. V'lane and Barrons are walking sex that Mac just can't help but want even though she says she doesn't want them. I KNOW she is falling in love with Barrons and that's the reason I'm reading this series. I'm going to find out what he is!!

It's nearly Halloween when all the shit hits the fan. The Unseelie are trying to tear down the prision wall so that they can all walk the earth. Barrons is helping the Scotish clan with a ritual and Mac was going to the Abbey to help them with their ritual. BUT the entire city is being riotted by the Unseelie themselves and they're driving the humans towards the Dark places so they can be soaked up by the Shades. Mac is trapped in the city with no help. She can't call V'lane with the his name on her tough dying when she said it, the Unseelie took control of the utilites causing all the lights and cell towers to go down so she can't call Barrons or IYCRM or IYD which are the back up for Barrons. She has no choice but to take her MacHalo and run. She holes up in the spire of a cathedral in a broom closet. When dawn comes she goes out. She's slammed by the death-by-sex feeling and thinks it's V'lane coming to her rescue. She was WAY wrong. It's three Unseelie Princes. They rape her in the church. When they stop The Lord Master comes over and says "I think she'll obey me now".

So, here I am. Three books into a series with no end in sight. There are two more books posted on Karen's website. That means at least one year, may two or three before the ending is revealed. I CAN'T STAND THAT! Most other series have some sort of ending. These DO NOT! I'm an instant gratification kind of girl. I like series because I like to have a constant such as environment, characters, or language. This series is unlike any I've ever read. I guess I could say that the Sookie Stackhouse series is somewhat like this but this story is so much bigger than Sookie's. There are so many unanswered questions.

What is Barrons?
Who is V'lane really?
What about this Lord Master?
Why did the walls fail?
What is really going on?

Karen's constant reminder in the books and her blog and website is that there will be a happy ending for Mac. That's great and all but me as the reader doesn't want to hear that. I want to know now and I want the books to be written better with either less detail or something. Dragging this story out so much is torture. The books are good but they aren't THAT good.

I'm going to finish this series when the books are available. However, I would suggest to other readers to wait. Make sure they are all out and then read the story.

I give all three of these books an 8/10. The story line is good. I just don't like the product.

Selling on eBay! 3T jeans anyone?

So, I've been dressing my daughter lately in size 3T jeans......which are just too short for her!
I ordered some 5T jeans from Old Navy for not very cheap. They never are!

The jeans she had are just too cute for words! I decided to finally put them (her too small clothes that is) on eBay and sell them!

Selling on eBay takes quite a while to set everything up. I already had the account. Love me some eBay! But getting all that tedious information the bidder will want to know looking pretty takes some time. This listing took me about an hour from start to finish. I also use a layout hosting site, Auctiva for the template, which is awesome so you don't have to write any HTML. One less thing to worry about! I had the jeans laid out already, took some pictures of what I knew I'd be describing, and then I started formatting the layout, not to mention the starting bid price and shipping cost.

So, if you know anyone looking for some 3T girlie jeans shoot them my way!

I'm going to go back now and put some of her other clothes on eBay too. I seperated a bunch out tonight. We have family over this weekend and I start school next week so I'm not sure when I'll find the time to actually put them all on there. I hope I do though! I have soo many clothes!

Tag, I'm it!

I was tagged by Leigh Ann on her blog, Stamping with Annie Bthankyou Leigh Ann!

Here are the rules:
1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. My closet is organized by rainbow color Roy G. Biv. And the clothes must be facing to the left not the right. My husband still forgets sometimes and I MUST redo them.
:rainbow:

2. I love hot food. Everything is better with some jalapenos on it, like chili and hamburgers. Salsa has to be hot or it's just gross. Same with buffalo wings. If I'm not teary eyes and my nose isn't running, they're no good.

3. I HATE the smell of popcorn. It makes me want to barf sooo bad. I can eat it if I don't smell it first. I hardly ever eat it at the movies and almost never at home. eatcorn

4. I enjoy scrapbooking but I hardly ever have time to do it. I'm constantly a year behind and that makes me feel so overwhelmed that I don't usually even try to do it. It's sad really. But one day my daughter will thank me for putting forth so much effort.

5.  I'm a book reading addict. So far this year I have read 79 books. I'm sure others out read me but compared to last year that's a major increase. :reading:

6. In 13 days I start school again. This time for Medical Assistant certification. It's a one year course. Therefore, I'm hoping to start a new career this coming year.

7. Rockband. My husband bought it as a Valentine's Day gift to me this year. I HATED it. I threw the biggest tantrum ever. WTF was he thinking! Anyhow, it's now the best game ever to play when you're in the mood to rock out. I'm amazing at guitar and bass. I'm a beginner on the drums. It's not very easy and I hate the pedal. And singing, eh, I could be better but it's still lots of fun. Now I'm thankful that my honey bought it for us.  http://www.theofficeexperts.com/forum/images/smilies/rockband.gif

Who to tag, who to tag?

I would tag Cherie but Leigh Ann just tagged her.

Well, since I don't know that many bloggers and most blogs that I frequent are authors we'll just have to hope that they play along! If nothing else you find out some amazing authors and their fasinating blogs.

Larissa Ione - She wrote an AMAZING book; Pleasure Unbound. My review is here and you can check it out at Amazon.com here.

Jocelynn Drake - She wrote an awesome book called Nightwalker. My review is here and you can check it out at Amazon.com here.

Rachel Vincent - She is a very gifted writer of the shapeshifting series Werecats. Stray is book one, my review here and Amazon.com here. Rogue is book two, my review here and Amazon.com here. And due out February 1, 2009 book three, Pride, will be devoured by me and a review will be posted.

Jacquelyn Frank - Now, this is one of my favs! She writes the amazing Nightwalkers series. I just read the latest, Noah, my review here and Amazon.com here, not too long ago and it was phenomenal. Looking forward to her new Shadowdweller series coming out soon.

I think four is good enough!
