This was a short prequel to Gena's upcoming Lords of the Underworld series.
It was a very good sneak peek to the lives of where the demons in her story are going to be coming from. It seems like a great theme for the series. I'm really looking forward to where Gena takes this series. She was so generous to post the first 3 chapters of the upcoming The Darkest Night due to release May 1, 2008.

I really enjoyed Darkest Fire, although I thought Darkest Night was better (possibly because the length allowed for more plot and character development). Still, for the price (I don't know about the paperback price, but I bought the ebooks version and it was cheap), it was more than worth it. I'm really looking forward to Showalter's next offering.
ReplyDeletePlutonica,
ReplyDeleteThe Darkest Fire was only released in ebook, for the time being.
However, I agree. I don't like novellas very much. I crave detail and novellas really lack the feeling of being drawn in. I'm looking forward to The Darkest Kiss, which I have heard that B&N is already shipping out!
Toodles!
