So, I was so excited about getting this book that I think I worked myself up way too much.
I went to the midnight release at the local Borders and purchased the book. I stayed up until about 4:00 am that night. I didn't put it down all day Saturday, and stayed up again until 4:00 am reading. I repeated the same for Sunday and finished Monday at 4:00 am.
A lot goes down in this final book. So much that can't be said without ruining the book for anyone who hasn't read it. I think I can comment on my favorite section of the book without hurting anyone's experience and that would be the honeymoon. I'm used to reading pretty graphic adult romance so this experience was cooled down a lot but it still did Edward and Bella justice.
My least favorite part is the ending chapters. I just found it lacking. I know it wraps the story up nice and tight but I wanted more excitement. I didn't get that.
I've found myself mopping about now that the story is over. With the ending not my fave and it actually being over I'm highly depressed. I believe I'll be dapping back into some awesome fan fiction, which I can say some were much better than what Stephenie actually put out. Oh well.
I do hope she decides to write more stories that center around Edward and Bella or the rest of the family.
I'm still a lover of Twilight, the first book, as it was my ultimate favorite. Therefore, I will be looking forward to reading Midnight Sun, Edward's point of view of Twilight. The first chapter is available on Stephenie's website and it is amazing. That first book, just WOW. Second book blew for me, third book was better than the second but not as good as the first, and the last book was just okay.
I came out of this ordeal with 2 copies of the hardback and the Kindle Edition.
8/10

Uuuuugh, Jess, I HATED it. I didn't write a full-on review, but I did write a few things here:

Also, if you haven't, definitely read these:

There's three parts, and it's way better than the book itself.
Seriously though: Renesemee? SERIOUSLY? I half expected Bella to start lactating blood or something, ugh, so bad.
Aja,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
The 8/10 was being very generous. After rethinking a little, I'd probably rate it a 5/10.
It really did suck.
I agree with someone who commented somewhere that they think SM should have written BD first, before switching to The Host, which, I could NOT read it was so bad.
BD reminded me of The Host. It was boring, long, and didn't make much sense. And in BD case it was waaaaay different than the previous books.
I cannot see this book as a good movie. It would totally blow monkey balls. IMO
I didn't that BD was bad. I still gave it 5 stars because I liked how things ended up--I may change that to 4 the more I think about it. I do think it was too long and some stuff wasn't necessary to the story. The major issue is I wasn't feeling the love between Edward and Bella like in the other books. Let's hope Midnight Sun is awesome.
ReplyDeleteRenesmee totally sucked as a name.
Leigh Ann,
ReplyDeleteI felt the whole story was lacking the love and the usual character mojo that was in the previous books. Most of the Bella stuff just seemed out of character for her.
Oh well. As I said before I've basically forgotten about the book.
